About this Opportunity:

The Director of Learning and Teaching is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of learning and teaching practices, ensuring academic excellence across Alphacrucis University College (AC) courses. This role contributes to the achievement of the College’s mission and strategic goals and ensures compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF), Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework, and National Micro-credentials (MC) Framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Learning and Standards team to achieve academic excellence in both digital and face-to-face learning environments.
  • Design and implement a Learning and Teaching Framework to ensure continuous improvement in curriculum design and pedagogy, including assessment integrity.
  • Oversee projects aimed at maintaining and enhancing learning, teaching, and scholarship.
  • Maintain ‘Research Active’ status, ensuring engagement in priority areas of Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks, and collaborate on course accreditation processes.
  • Lead professional development initiatives for AC staff and Third Parties through a Community of Practice model.
  • Oversee academic governance and policy reviews, contributing to key committees such as the Academic Board, Learning and Teaching Committee, and others.
  • Oversee moderation processes for curriculum, teaching, and assessment.
  • Ensure effective use of the Learning Management System (Moodle) to improve student and staff experience.
  • Lead benchmarking efforts to drive continuous improvement of courses and course delivery.
  • Drive inter-disciplinary collaboration and external stakeholder engagement to enhance curriculum, pedagogy, and student support services.
  • Contribute to applications for course accreditation, renewal of registration, and regulatory data provision.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to explore new opportunities for Higher Education, VET, Micro-credentials, and short courses

Required Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Completion of an accredited teaching qualification from an Australian university.
  • PhD or working towards a doctorate in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant teaching experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Active involvement in research and scholarship of Learning and Teaching.
  • Leadership experience in academic quality assurance and enhancement within tertiary education.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current trends in tertiary education, policy, and regulation.
  • Understanding of Professional Accrediting Authority requirements (e.g., NESA, ACECQA, PACFA, ACA, CPA, CAANZ).
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and leadership abilities.
  • High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage large-scale projects and lead teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework, VET Quality Framework, and National Micro-credentials Framework.
  • Familiarity with academic governance and risk management processes.
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with AC’s mission and values.
  • Flexibility and a proactive approach to change.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to undertake further study and professional development as required.
  • Growth mindset and the ability to mentor and coach others.
