About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and student-focused professional to join our Student Experience team as the permanent full-time Head of Student Success – Special Cohorts.
Reporting to the Director of Student Experience, this role is responsible for leading the administration and support services for a range of special student cohorts, including international students, Korean language students, equity students supported under the needs-based funding scheme, and overseas cohorts such as Fijian students.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and service-oriented leader who is passionate about student success, operational excellence, and building inclusive educational experiences.
The Head of Special Cohorts Administration oversees the student journey from application through to graduation for designated student cohorts. The role leads key operational teams, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supports student retention initiatives, and contributes to continuous improvement across student services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Korean Students Team and International Student Office to ensure efficient, student-centred operations
- Support equity students through admissions, enrolment, and access to academic support services
- Manage needs-based funding processes, reporting requirements, and initiatives aimed at improving student success outcomes
- Coordinate study skills and computer skills workshops for students requiring additional support
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff within the team
- Ensure accurate student administration, record management, and high-quality customer service
- Work collaboratively with Future Students and recruitment teams to improve offer conversion and student engagement
- Contribute to policy improvement, cross-functional working groups, and institution-wide student experience initiatives
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Essential
- A bachelor qualification or higher
- Minimum three years' experience within the higher education sector
- Demonstrated experience supporting international students
- Experience leading and supervising staff teams
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of work accurately
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service capabilities
Desirable
- Experience supporting equity student cohorts
- Knowledge of the Higher Education and/or VET environment
- Understanding of international student compliance and reporting requirements
- Fluency in Korean and English
