| Abstract | Research has demonstrated the value of reaching children at an early age to imbue a lasting effect of an active rather than passive Christian life. This should include all aspects associated with ministry formation to foster and mentor key internal change with deep and lasting somatic effect on the individual level, and in both the community of believers (church) and the broader community (evangelism). Although research exists surrounding ministry formation and adults, its application with children is presently a research gap. This has led to the main research question: How can a music-based model be developed and used to initiate and effect a deep and ongoing form of ministry formation in children underpinned by a PERMA+ Framework? Linking existing secular research surrounding the mind, body, soul, spirit and earth connections (Lee 2009), theories on child development, PERMA+ (see page 8), diversity (using the ADDRESSING Framework as explained on page 14) and the role of music in reaching across all these aspects, is the focus of this research project. To achieve this, a grounded theory methodology will be employed, using semi-structured qualitative interviews with key church leaders, to garner the impact on children, when considering these elements against the main research question listed above. |
