Years K-2 Reading and Writing
This subject continues the progression of learning related to reading and the landscape of writing. The subject focuses on current pedagogies developed through the process of research and evidence-based outcomes which support classroom readiness of TES. The program continues to engage TES in multimodal texts and a variety of frameworks to support and recognise the importance of developing and implementing teaching programs for a diverse range of students. Through responding and composing TES will engage with and explore texts that continue to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing, viewing and representing.

- Critically analyse effective English and literacy pedagogies proven to have efficacy in progressing student learning.
- Generate knowledge and understandings of effective English and literacy pedagogies by maintaining a journal.
- Explain understandings of recent theories and practices related to the evidence-based importance of Years K-2 learning to read and write.
- Construct reading and writing learning experiences, guided by the ACARA English curriculum or the NESA English K-10 syllabus, that demonstrates insight into the theory and practices of teaching reading and writing.
- Critically examine the history of the teaching of reading and how written language works and children learn to be literate.
- Evaluate the knowledge and skills in the NESA English syllabus for the acquisition of reading and writing ability.
- Consider the means for ongoing teacher professional learning to improve practice in the teaching of reading and writing.
