Outcomes
- Recognise a range of addiction theories and analyse the cause, development and effects of different types of addiction;
- Acquire relevant technical and communication skills to apply an understanding of addictions in a range of contexts including, alcohol and other drug work;
- Identify appropriate community resources, facilities and professionals you could work with or refer to as a Chaplain;
- Express the core values and principles of work with additions into practice;
- Identify the ethical and legal issues involved in working with people with addictions.

- Different perspectives on addiction/s
- Types of addictions including: alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, sex
- Outlining the components of a holistic approach with clients and those affected by addictions
- Developmental perspectives of substance abuse and& addictions
- Assessment, evaluation and referral processes
- Treatment of addictions
- Ethical issues in counselling addictions
- Preventive interventions
