- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and theories of cultural and social diversity, including intercultural communication, and the impact on practice;
- Examine and critically analyse a broad range of social and cultural issues and systems;
- Identify key elements of culturally and socially diverse practice, including assessment, intervention and support;
- Apply advanced self- awareness and self-reflection of the students’ cultural and social identity to enhance effective professional practice.

- Theories and principles of cultural and social diversity, including intercultural communication
- Effects of cultural factors on perceptions, explanations, interpretations, assessment, expectations, communication and outcomes of counselling
- Intercultural differences in non-verbal behaviours and their significance
- Language, culture and professional relationships
- Skills development, assessment intervention, and support
- Evaluation of effectiveness in culturally and socially diverse practice
- Ethical issues in cross cultural work
